Patient Heart
Looking at somewhere verses 17ㅡ,
The angels rescue a very heavy hearted Lot. "Flee to the mountain" and Lot replies, "But I can't flee to the mountains; ...and requests, look, here is a town near enough to run to-".
Lot does not obey God's commands. He was doubtful in what would happen. And God relents to Lot's wishes and grants him to stay in Zoar.
If you look at Lot's unwillingness to obey its pretty pathetic. Lot doesn't realize the grace of salvation that he is being granted, and he isn't even grateful.
But God still shows Lot his mercy. Lot does not deserve such salvation. He doesn't even want it. He isn't even thankful for God's guidance. He is being rescued from utter destruction and he still demands his wants.
But God is patient and still shows him mercy and grants him salvation. You can see God's patience in these verses.
We are all like Lot. Even though we've been granted the gift of salvation, we forget how to be grateful. ^-^ "Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you He waits patiently to show us his grace (Isaiah 30:18)."
